BEIJING, November 2 (TMTPOST) — As of Tuesday, more than 3,000 express delivery outlets in 29 provinces and regions have suspended services, according to a list provided by merchants in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province.
As November 11 Shopping Festival started at 20:00 on Monday, the express delivery industry ushered in the annual peak shipping season. Due to the pandemic control, delivery companies in many provinces had to suspend their services. The difficulty in express delivery still exists, merchants said.
A list of suspended delivery outlets provided by the person in charge of Xinmeiyou Mall in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, shows that as of Tuesday, a total of 3,228 express delivery nationwide have suspended services due to pandemic control in 29 provinces and regions such as Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Henan, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Chongqing.
Delivery is suspended in Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos due to the pandemic control. Parcels in Taicang and Kunshan in Jiangsu Province cannot be shipped normally because of the same reason. Cangzhou City in Hebei Province and Linyi City in Shandong Province have suspended the collection of parcels due to the escalation of local pandemic control, according to the list.
From Tuesday to Saturday, powders, batteries, all kinds of knives, toy guns and other items are strictly prohibited in express shipments to Shanghai, except for the categories specified in the contraband catalog.
The person in charge of the Mall said that the list is provided by the company"s main express partner, Yuantong Express, and is updated from time to time. The information on the list shows that as of last Sunday, the number of outlets which suspended for delivery across the network had reached 2,854.
At 20:00 on Monday, there was a surge in orders after customers paid the balance, but poor logistics brought trouble to sellers. A person responsible for e-commerce of women"s clothing brand EIFINI said, " We are very worried about the uncertainty of delivery during Nov 11 Shopping Gala. We have to refund if the goods can not be sent, resulting in a lot of goods left behind."
