BEIJING, December 12 (TMTPOST) —— China"s imports and exports in the first 11 months of 2022 reached 38.34 trillion yuan ($5.5 trillion), an increase of 8.6 percent year over year, according to statistics released by the General Administration of Customs (GAC) recently.
In the first 11 months, exports rose 11.9 percent year over year to 21.84 trillion yuan ($3.13 trillion), while imports rose 4.6 percent year over year to 16.5 trillion yuan ($2.36 trillion). The trade surplus surged by 42.8% to 5.34 trillion yuan ($765.23 billion) during the period.
According to the GAC, general trade maintained double-digit growth of 12.4 percent in the first 11 months to reach 24.47 trillion yuan ($3.5 trillion), accounting for 63.8 percent of the country’s total trade. Among them, exports increased by 17.2%, and imports rose by 6.7%.
China"s trade with its major partners maintained steady growth in the first 11 months. Trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, China"s largest trading partner, climbed by 15.5 percent during the period, while trade with its second-largest trading partner, the European Union, rose 7 percent from a year earlier. Trade with the United States, China"s third largest trading partner, with a total trade value of 4.62 trillion yuan ($661.81 billion).
During the same period, China"s trade with countries along the Belt and Road increased by 20.4 percent, and trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership member states climbed by 7.9 percent.
As the main body of foreign trade, private enterprises" imports and exports increased rapidly. In the first 11 months, there were 497,500 private enterprises with export and import performance, an increase of 7.3% year on year. The total import and export volume of private enterprises reached 19.41 trillion yuan ($2.78 trillion), an increase of 13.6% year on year, accounting for 50.6% of the total volume of China"s foreign trade in the same period. Private enterprises continue to act as the "main force" of Chinese foreign trade.
